Whether you’re expecting your first child or welcoming your third,
becoming a parent is filled with new joys, challenges, and questions.
Come learn or refresh your knowledge on what to expect as you settle
into this important and rewarding role.
Whether you are planning a vaginal birth or a cesarean birth, this
evidenced based in person private class can help you get ready for
life with a newborn. Taught by a Registered Nurse with many years’
experience in a local hospital birth center, this 4 hour newborn class
can help increase your confidence and ease your transition into your
new parenting role.
**PLEASE NOTE:
This separate one session prenatal four-hour Newborn Class is designed for
those who have not taken my Childbirth Preparation course.
This newborn class content is included in my 4 week Childbirth Course and
Cesarean Birth Class.

*Class Available upon request for a Group of Friends (2 or 3 couples with the
class fee then split two or three ways) 

Class Fee: $225 includes Mom and support person, may include a 2 nd support
person if desired. Class starts at 5:30. No refunds.

Topics to be covered include:
 Newborn appearance, the common and not so common
 Typical development and milestones for the 1 st year of life
 Your baby's communication patterns and strategies to calm and comfort a
crying baby
 Newborn care – including bathing, umbilical cord care, fingernail care
 Hands on practice with life sized dolls covering safe handling, swaddling,
burping, and diapering
 Keeping your baby safe – including where to get car seat safety checks,
safe sleep practices, and other safety considerations
 Basic feeding principles – detailed breastfeeding information is offered in
my AAP recommended Breastfeeding Class
 Bonding and how to get to know your baby
 Routine newborn procedures and what to expect at the hospital
 How to maintain baby's ideal temperature, jaundice, and knowing when to
seek medical advice
 Identifying community resources that can help ease your transition into
parenthood
 Reviewing different parenting styles with an emphasis on Positive
Parenting
 Parenting and partner communication tips
 Maternal and Paternal Mental Health and how to maintain it during the
adjustment to parenthood
 How to get sleep as a parent of a newborn
 What does ‘Self Care’ look like postpartum and maintaining connections
with others
 Preparing for postpartum during pregnancy tips
 And so much more!
